On November 29th, 2008 Officers Berndt, Emery and Boudreaux were dispatched to 2615 W. Alexis on reports of of a person shot.  Upon arrival, the officers found one victim deceased and realized the shooter was still active within the residence.  The officers quickly assessed the situation and formed an entry team.  The officers entered the residence as the suspect was shooting at his wife in an upstairs bedroom.  As the suspect was reloading his weapon the officers engaged the suspect allowing his wife to escape by jumping out a window.  The suspect retreated into a bedroom and took his own life.  The quick and heroic action of these officers saved the life of Jennifer Mutchler.
